Located to the southeast of Calibishie, between Pointe Baptiste & Hodges Bay, Villa Passiflora is a beautifully designed home-away-from-home in a tranquil & private setting. Perched on a hillside enjoying both a cooling breeze & magnificent ocean views, the villa has 3 bedrooms each with en-suite bathroom, there is an open-plan living, dining & fully equipped kitchen area, a study & library, large veranda decks, an infinity pool, hammocks, 4-poster beds with mosquito netting, & those wonderful sea views. Housekeeping services include cooking if required & there is also a visiting masseuse & yoga expert as well as onsite caretakers for additional peace of mind. Manicou River’s hand-crafted wooden cottages, bar & bistro are completely off-grid & set within 4ha of forested hillside overlooking Douglas Bay & the Cabrits National Park. Each cottage has a dbl bed, bathroom, shower, SC facilities & deck with panoramic views. The property’s expansive forest gardens have walking trails & the pretty Manicou River borders the property. The Manicou River Bar & Bistro also overlooks the Cabrits & Douglas Bay & serves French Caribbean dishes. Reservations are recommended though not essential. Manicou is a peaceful & private retreat with great views at the end of a partly unpaved & steep feeder road. A 4×4 is recommended.

Sisters offers clean & convenient self-contained lodge accommodation located within tropical gardens next to the beach at Picard. Each stone lodge has 2 dbl beds, en-suite bathroom, kitchenette, living area, ceiling fans, insect screens, & porch. The beachfront bar & restaurant specialises in seafood but everything is good – even the pasta is homemade. Sisters is good-value accommodation in a semi-private beachfront location & handy for exploring the north. A short walk into Picard offers even more dining options.

Veranda View is lovely guesthouse accommodation located right on the water in Calibishie village. Artistically designed & decorated by owner Hermien, it is colourful, fresh, relaxing & excellent value for money. Each room has bed, lounger, en-suite bathroom, a small kitchenette & a private veranda with gorgeous sea views. There is a covered terrace bar & restaurant where dinner can be cooked for you by reservation. European & Creole seafood dishes are Hermien’s speciality. Just 20mins from Douglas Charles Airport & as close to the water as it is possible to be without getting your feet wet, Veranda View is well established, popular & highly recommended.

All cottages face the sea, with Prince Rupert Bay & the Cabrits National Park a picturesque backdrop; some are directly on the beachfront. Sea Cliff Cottages has been accommodating travellers to the Calibishie area for longer than most & it is still a great place to stay. Its very pleasant self-contained cottages are located in expansive hillside gardens overlooking Hodges Bay. They sleep 2–7, & are fully equipped with en-suite bathrooms, kitchen, TV, Wi-Fi, seating areas & balconies where guests can enjoy panoramic sea & mountain views. Mobile phones provided to guests who need them & a nearby trail runs down to the beach & river at Hodges Bay. Within walking distance to Calibishie’s shops & restaurants, Sea Cliff Cottages is excellent value SC accommodation in a scenic & practical location, suitable for both couples & families.

RAINBOW RESTAURANT Calibishie; tel: 767 245 9995 or 767 245 4838. Located right on the water’s edge & even incorporating a narrow strip of sand, Rainbow serves great French Creole food. Eat inside or upstairs on the deck. There are nice sea views to accompany lionfish, coconut chicken in pineapple, & other delicious lunches & dinners. Just turn up.

CORAL REEF RESTAURANT & BAR Calibishie; tel: 767 445 7432; Out of sight behind the Coral Reef Supermarket on Main St, Calibishie, this waterside bar & restaurant serves good-value local & international food, from traditional Creole lunches to burger & fries. It’s simple but tasty & affordable. Lovely sea views. Just turn up.
